Historical rails Coat Rack Design & woodburning by Petra, metal work by friend and artist Carl Schlichting.
This coat rack is made for a cabin on the West shore of Slocan Lake. Around 1928 the cabin's property was owned by the Molly Hughes Mine. Above this site ran the railway that connected Sandon with Rosebery and Nakusp. The trains transported ore, mined in Sandon, into the Slocan Valley and beyond. The S.S. Rosebery Sternwheeler took the train wagons by water to Slocan City, after which the wagons continued further South on the rails again. The woodburning art on the coat rack illustrates this rich hisotry. Standing on the railways above the Molly Hughes mine, you look out over the Slocan Lake with New Denver on the left and the S.S. Sternwheeler on its way to Rosebery.
